사람들은 커다란 술통이 굴러다니듯 대지위를 배회했지.
그들에겐 두쌍의 팔과

그래서 그들은 모든 주위를 한꺼 번에 볼 수 있었고

그래서 그 때는 세 개의 성(性)이 있었는데
하나는 두 남자가 등이 붙은 것 같은 모양으로
태양의 아이라고 불렸었지.
지구의 아이 역시 비슷한 모양과 사이즈였는데
두 여자가 하나로 합쳐진 모습이었어.
그리고 달의 아이들은 숫가락에 포크가 겹쳐진
모양으로 한쪽은 태양 한쪽은 지구 즉
한쪽은 딸 한 쪽은 아들이었어.
사랑의 기원
어느날 신들은 인간의 힘과 반항성에
꽤나 겁을 먹게 되었지.
그 때, 토르(주1)가 말했어
"내가 거인족을 죽였던 것 처럼
내 망치로 전부 몰살시키리라"
그러자, 제우스가 말했지
"아냐, 내게 맡겨.
내가 고래의 발을 자르고
공룡을 잘게 썰어 도마뱀을 만든 것 처럼
내 번개를 가위처럼 써줄테니까"
그러더니 벼락을 몇개 집어들고
큰 웃음 한번 내 뱉고는 이렇게 말했어
"딱 중간을 쪼개 주리라. 정확히 반쪽으로 잘라주리라"
그리고는 폭풍이 하늘위에 모이더니 거대한 불덩이가 되었어.
그리고 불이! 벼락이 되어 하늘로 부터 쏘아졌지.
마치 빛나는 칼날 처럼!
그 불이 태양과, 달과, 지구의 아이들의 살을
찢고 뜯어버린거야.
그리고 어떤 인도의 신은
그 상처를 구멍이 되도록 꿰매어
배쪽으로 당겨서 옮겨놓아
우리가 치룬 댓가를
언제나 기억할 수 있게 했지.
그리고 오시리스와 나일강의 신들은
커다란 폭풍우를 몰고와
태풍을 불게하여
우리를 뿔뿔이 흩어지게,
바람과 비의 폭풍속으로
조수의 파도가 넘치는 바다로
우리 전부 쓸려 나가게 했어.
또 우리가 까불면
또 한 번 잘라버릴 거라고
그렇게 되면 한 발로 뛰어 다니고 한눈을 통해
세상을 보게 되겠지.
지난 번 널 봤을 때는
우리는 막 둘로 나뉘어졌을 때였을 꺼야.(주2)

난 널 바라보고 었었지
네겐 친숙한 뭔가가 있었지만
난 알아보지 못했어.
네 얼굴엔 피가 묻어있엇고
내 눈엔 피가 묻어있었기 때문이겠지.
하지만 네 표정을 보니
네 영혼 깊은 곳의 상처는 내 영혼 속의 상처와
같은 것이라는 확신이 들어.
